Happy Birthday to Pepe

Celebrated her second birthday with a small group of family and friends at Loy's brother's place. It was warm, but Penny was evidently thrilled by the extra attention, and melting amateur birthday cake that Mommy baked specially for her--low sugar, zuchinni chocolate cake topped with her favourite strawberries! Birthday parties are more work than I thought, but I suppose we'll forget each year round about this time... and God bless our many loved ones who contributed food for this potluck celebration, and for friends who came despite a busy schedule.
(And just for our own record: we got her a Curious George stuffed toy which is one of her best friends now, and also "Three Tales from Acorn Wood" by our favourite Donaldson/Scheffler duo; birthday dress from Grandma and Grandpa; ABC Board toy from Nainai and Yeye)

The little negotiator

It has dawned upon us again the last few days that Penny is really in her Terrible Twos. She's really been testing our limits, and has also learnt to negotiate, with phrases like "just a little bit," and "one last time"--except that she has yet to truly grasp the meaning of "last", especially when it comes to her bedtime books. At least she still dislikes being called "naughty" and hopefully, as we train her to obey, not least by praying together after each round of discipline, she'll grow up to be a good example to her meimei who is due early August.
