Back in Berkeley on transit to Singapore

After weeks of packing, dumping, garage sales and what seemed like endless packing (the things we had accumulated short of two years!), we finaly left 466 Gladstone, Toronto--Penny's first home and the only one she'd ever known--in the afternoon of 10 May 2006 to catch a plane to San Francisco. The 5+ hours flight was a little more trying than we had hoped. Penny hardly slept until the final hour and fussed a little more than usual. Nonetheless, we have much to be thankful for. We arrived safe and sound, and enjoyed the hospitality (thanks Dianne and Michael!) and fellowship of old and precious friends for almost two weeks.

Being able to live for a while in Berkeley again was also quite an experience. This time, we were very conscious of the fact that we would probably not be returning to North America any time soon, and so tried to make the most of each day. We made sure we had a taste of the famous Cheese Board Pizza (one of the very best we've tasted!!), visited Crepes A Go Go a few more times, walked down Telegraph and had Yoghurt Park cones, bought books and another tote bag from Moe's, purchased a Cody's sweater (goodbye Berkeley store), visited my friend Linda at the Paper Plus store, had gelato at Shattuck, and felt a little regretful at not being able to see more squirrels at the campus. To list the many other things we three did and the friends we had a good time with would make this post way too long, so here are some pictures which we hope you'll enjoy looking at. School's starting soon for me, and it's back to a life of a busy school teacher. Whenever I am tempted to feel overwhelmed by work, I'm thankful to have these pictures and more to remind me of God's goodness in allowing Loy and myself, and then Baby Penny as well, to have lived for a while as leisurely sojourners in a far-off land that's dear to our hearts.
